Dotflac Skimmer is a journey where you planned the road but didn't decide of its end. A slow but steady evolution of intertwined melodic threads that will sometimes lull you in comfortable beds of low frequencies, and sometimes shake the environment as powerful swells of tones blissfully collide against each other, but always reveal hidden shades of throbbing intensity and tesselated light.

A faded dream within a dream, that will leave you unsure of your own reality if you ever look for it again. Favorite track: Kreimms.

about

Ben:
"About two years ago, I approached Tobias about a collaboration as I've long been a huge fan of his sound designs. So on a whim I decided to send him an email about possibly collaborating. I think it was really important from the outset that we established some ground rules that allowed for brutal honesty and strong communication. We also shared the same artistic philosophy that we would place no time constraints on the project. We decided that just being open to the sonic possibilities without striving to achieve anything was critical". Since 2015 we amassed a pretty substantial library of collaborative sounds. Frankly, everything I sent Tobias always came back better than the original! So it was pretty easy at least on my end. I couldn't be happier with how ’Skimmer’ turned out."

Tobias:
"Honestly, I wasn't that familiar with Ben's work before he reached out. However, after listening to some of his releases, I got excited to see where a collaboration could lead to. We started exchanging files, and had long periods of no activity at all. Which was fine and all part of our set of rules for the project, and for me, that was what made this so exciting. You never knew what you were receiving and you never knew what you were gonna send back. And if you felt like you got stuck, you just paused for as long as you needed - we were both very patient in the process. Having that in mind, it was truly interesting to see how some of the work slowly took form during such a long period. ’Skimmer’ definitely became something special that none of us could have ever created on our own.
